This week for our art time we made some mess free

This week for our art time we made some mess free toilet paper roll bats 🦇 to use for decorating as we enter Fall and Halloween!
.
Steps for our two day project: 1. First day I cut out wings and the tops for the ears.
.
2. I just put them in a giant plastic bag with the black crayola finger paint we had and had my toddler shake it!
.
3. I pulled them out and let them dry overnight.
.
4. The next day I put tape on each wing and we used adhesive eyes.
.
5. While she napped I used school glue to secure the wings.
.
Thoughts: Older children could make a mouth & feet as well or the entire thing out of construction paper. Also don’t leave your toddler alone with yummy tiny eyes.. Everything goes in the mouth to try to eat.
.
Final result:
When she woke up from nap we played Batman soundtracks and read some Fall books. She really enjoys making it fly around and I’m sure she will love it to literal pieces in a few days. We will be making lots of them to decorate for Halloween!

As someone who was a tomboy most of her life.. let me say a little lipstick, bronzer and mascara can be a real mood booster! My staircase light is also perfection! Please don’t be fooled though.. most days I have the stay home Mama/ artist starter look: top knot, no makeup, t-shirt and leggings (probably with paint and ink stains) on. It’s a special occasion now if I put on a real bra, makeup and shoes during the pandemic.. well..actually it always was.💄

Today my Babe turns one! For someone so small, she has a big personality and a flair for the dramatic! Sweet, sometimes shy, she loves books, other babies, dancing, screeching and talking, walking around shaking a disapproval finger... It’s been a wild ride, I can’t wait to go through baby pictures, open some gifts and of course have some cake tonight! We made it and I can’t believe she’s one, she feels like she was just a tiny newborn yesterday!

Thank you, @misselizabethpenelope for nominating me. I looked at so many photos to pick and I came back to this one again and again. This was not right after giving birth as all those photos I’m crying hysterically. This was when I learned we would all be going home so I was extremely relieved and happy. I could of chosen a photo where I was wearing full makeup and had my hair styled, didn’t have bags under my eyes, but that didn’t seem “real” or raw enough. There is power is vulnerability and being oneself letting the mask fall. Perfection is a illusion. Competition is only there if you choose to engage in it. You are the only you. Woman need to support each other. Life is messy, difficult, raw with spots of beauty and joy. That’s the reminder that you are part of the human experience, like everyone before you and everyone after. #womansupportingwomen #challengeaccepted

A sad update: Apparently this “challenge” somehow changed over time through social media, but was originally the black & white photo challenge and it was supposed to draw attention to femicide and violence against woman (mainly Turkish). It was to draw attention to woman who have lost their lives and did not get justice.

A little about myself, for those of you who don’t know me outside of social media. I am a Visual Artist who works in many mediums but primarily drawing & printmaking (monotypes, relief & intaglio). Crafts I enjoy are: sewing, textile dyeing, jewelry & book making. I am a girl Mama, yogi, newly into cycle, lover of nature & antique/vintage things. My favorite color is Red. I like to cook but hate to clean. I like plants but I have whatever the opposite of a green thumb is. I have 3 pets @grimm_friends one who my press is named after. I play video games & have since elementary school. I like to read: sci-fi, fiction, classics, biographies & true crime. I love teaching art & have taught ages 3 - Adults.
